Large bronze sculpture with brown patina depicting a young woman at the bird, perhaps a nymph, signed Aug.Moreau *, registered Art Nouveau late nineteenth century.
This sculpture is in good condition. It is of great workmanship and carving: the draping of the clothing and hair are particularly fine. She is signed to see pictures. It can rotate on its marble base.

A student of Mathurin Moreau. He debuted at the Salon of 1861 and continued to take an active part until 1910 at the Salon of French Artists, artistic grouping of which he was a member. (Excerpt Bénézit) It mainly produces bronzes. Several of his works are preserved in the museums of Fine Arts de Troyes and Bordeaux. He was the younger brother of Mathurin Moreau and Hippolyte Moreau. While two were also sculptors who produced mainly bronzes.
