Superb oil on canvas depicting Pâris * dying after being hit by an arrow from Philoctetes and seeking help from the goddess Oenone, episode of the Trojan War, antique eighteenth century.
This table is in good condition. The canvas was réentoilée later, the setting is too posterior.

was the youngest son of Priam, king of Troy, and Queen Hecuba. Pâris grew and became a beautiful and strong young man who defended the herds against thieves and it is then that he was nicknamed "Alexander" (protector of men).
He married the nymph Oenone, daughter of Cebren river that was able to predict the future (Rhea gift or Apollo) and had the renowned to be a woman of great wisdom and a renowned healer. Sent as ambassador to Greece, Pâris was welcomed by Menelaus, king of Sparta who was married to Helen the most beautiful woman in the world. Through Aphrodite intervention and as she had promised, Helen fell in love of Paris. Paris took the opportunity to remove Helen who was apparently willing it and before boarding, he laid hands on the king's treasury. The various negotiations between the Greeks and Trojans to restore Hélène failed, war was inevitable. During the Trojan War, Pâris narrowly escaped the blows of Menelaus, who had led in single combat. Aphrodite managed to hide in a cloud while Menelaus dragged him by his helmet strap. He killed many warriors and above all it touched mortally Achilles heel well it must be admitted that the arrow was guided by Apollo. Wounded himself with an arrow of Heracles that gave him Philoctetes Pâris was brought before Podalirios which declared unable to heal the wound and poisoned his first wife Oenone refused to treat him as she had said fifteen years ago .
