Tthe vogue for indoor fountains developed in the early eighteenth century and is a consequence of the use of the range: instead of hand washing in a basin with ewer presented between courses, it is done before then after the meal. This mode expands quickly in town and country, and throughout this century, the fountains are increasing and are an ornament to almost any interior. These parts consist of box containing often attached to a wooden panel decorated more or less, which is attached a console, the cuvette holder.
