Hairpin tie cameo adorned with mother-mount pomponne *, representing the profile of an old man, probably a Greek or Roman god (perhaps Bacchus and Pan) with vine leaves and grapes in their hair, and a goat's head on the body of XIXth century.
This pin is in good condition. It has its holster.
A note: small deformation and weld marks on the peak, small slits on the frame, wear time, see pictures (see red arrows).
Alloy developed by two goldsmiths, Turgot and Daumy, installed in the late eighteenth century in the hotel Pomponio, glassware street in Paris. This is a copper-based metal to imitate gold or silver. Louis XVI had granted a manufacturing privilege in 1785, whereas until that date, any imitation was prohibited.
