Rare office chair attributed to Jacob Frères * mahogany and mahogany veneer, concave backrest, armrests ending in sculpted rams' heads, front legs in double baluster and saber back legs, period Premier Empire early nineteenth century.
This chair is in good condition and is of exceptional quality. The trim is posterior (a little worn).

Georges Jacob is the most famous and prolific of all the carpenters in 18th century French seats. Since the reign of Louis XV to the Consulate he has been producing an incalculable quantity of seats of all kinds and all styles and a certian number of pieces of furniture. JACOB. Dynasty of carpenters and cabinetmakers in activity of the reign of Louis XV at the Restoration. Georges (1739-1814) was master in 1765, he made many seats first rock, then neoclassical. Georges Jacob Fils (1768-1803) and his brother François-Honoré (1770-1841) continue the family business rue Meslée under the Directory. François-Honoré associates with his name that of Desmalter after the death of his elder brother. In collaboration with the painter David, Jacob Desmalter creates new models inspired by antiquity, provides the Imperial Court. Georges Alphonse, his son, will serve the Restoration.
