Writer, poet, painter and art critic britannique.Il was published as a teenager. With the wealth of his family, he could devote his life to writing. He quickly became famous in the 1840s thanks to its critical work Modern Painters (1843-1860) where he proposed a new way of looking at art. He then wrote The Seven Lamps of Architecture in 1849 and especially The Stones of Venice in 1853.
