The Vineyard Book Modern Treaty of Architecture 1772

Rare book "The Modern Vignola or elementary treatise of architecture, the first part of the orders", by Jacques-Raymond Lucotte *, dated 1772, antique eighteenth century.

This book is in fair condition, binding is not the original. this book has been restored. The last page includes the approval signed by Cochin and permission of publication dated 1772. Missing Plate I, XVII, XXXV and XXXVI.

A note: traces of restorations on some pages, the paper is yellowed and stitched in parts, normal wear.


* Jacques-Raymond Lucotte

French architect and encyclopedist of the eighteenth century. A former student at the Royal Academy of Architecture, Lucotte provided the items "masonry", "mason", "marquetry", "carpenter", "Mosaic (section Mechanical)", "plumbing" "bridge, machinery "" florist, "" last-maker, "" tourbissure, "" glove "and" locks "in volumes IX to XVII to the Encyclopedia of Diderot and D'Alembert. He also provided more than 45 comments and over 650 drawings to volumes of plates. On August 15, 1765, he instituted, with the painter Poiraton, a free art school, which does not appear to have experienced a sustainable existence. In 1779, he opened his own school and in 1789 a School of Science and Arts for youth education including associates did it exclude two years later. Lucotte left two works, the modern Vignola, or Elementary Treatise of Architecture (3 vols., Paris, 1772-1784) and the Art of Masonry (Paris, 1783).
