Book entitled "The Devil on Two Sticks *" ** by Lesage, in two volumes in London in Peter Van Cleef, dated 1755 eighteenth century.
These books are in good condition. They are illustrated with engravings (all photographed, see below). These two books belong to the family Graffand Delaval.
A note: the paper is yellowed and slightly piqued in places, normal wear see photos, binding and cover were redone.
* The Devil is a lame novel by Alain-René Lesage, published in 1707. The hero of the Diable Boiteux being transported by the devil on the roof of each house, to see what is happening and have the opportunity to tell an adventure with no connection with what precedes nor with what follows. It is with the Devil that Lesage lame promises to be first-rate novelist. The success of the novel, which was considerable, completed last name to distinguish Lesage crowd of writers.
** Alain-René Lesage (1668-1747) is a novelist and playwright français.Il left an important and romantic drama, which is only part of probably his literary activities. The richness of the Spanish and Mediterranean, measured irony, the French, perpetuate his masterpiece, The History of Gil Blas. With the success of the Diable Boiteux, which was considerable, he broke with the difficult years and acknowledged that he became a novelist.
