* Pomponne: Alloy developed by two goldsmiths, Turgot and Daumy, installed at the end of the 18th century in the Hôtel de Pomponne, rue de la verrerie in Paris. It is a copper-based metal intended to imitate gold or silver. Louis XVI had granted them a manufacturing privilege in 1785, although until that date, any imitation was prohibited.
