This box is in good condition. It is signed by the bear on the lid.

A note: tiny little shock and wear on bronze, see photos.

* Christophe Fratin (1801-1864):

he first studied drawing at Metz and works in Paris in Géricault's studio. Perhaps it is this that teaches him a taste for animals because his career is devoted entirely to them. Fratin received some orders of the state, including several groups for the botanical garden and the esplanade of his hometown Metz. During the World Expo 185 in London, he is considered the greatest animal sculptor of the moment. His works are included in several international museums including the Wallace Collection in London. To his credit are also many small bronze statuettes and in groups, highly regarded for their realism and vigor. (Extract of the nineteenth bronzes by P.Kjellberg)
