Box Russian tea lacquered wood, decorated with a view of the Red Square in Moscow with St. Basil Cathedral in the background, and the Monument to the citizen Minin and Prince Pozharsky in on the lively many characters walking on foot or by horse-drawn carriage, signing the workshop Lukutin *, of XIXth century.
This box is in good condition, it is of outstanding quality. It is signed the Lukutin workshop (signature with double-headed eagle). We do not have his key.
A note: missing a baguette on a compartment lid, cracking time on the set, some scratches and wear time, although looking at the photos.
In 1818, control of the Korobov workshop passes Piotr Lukutin (the son-in Korobov), which expanded production to include tea boxes, album covers, desk accessories, and boxes with multiple uses. The artists began to paint complex decorative patterns on the boxes, and these genuine little pictures ostentatoirs become status symbols in the aristocracy and the wealthy Russian merchant class. Demand for lacquerware explodes. Just five years after the resumption of the workshop by Lukutin, it employs over fifty skilled painters, and a school right inside the factory trains apprentis.Piotr Lukutin began to exhibit its products in 1828 for industrial fairs and craft in Russia and Europe, winning a huge success with audiences and many awards. It was this same year that Lukutin received the highest honor a royal edict, allowing it to use the imperial emblem (two-headed eagle and initials) as the company's brand. Lukutin Alexander joined his father as a plant manager in 1841, and together they transfrme a simple craft into a form of authentic art through innovation show in which he sets and techniques. The workshop Lukutin closes its doors permanently in 1904 and some of its artists will be transferred to the Vishnyakov workshop.
