was a Spanish sculptor. He is a pupil of sculptor Angel Ferrant. He enrolled as a free auditor at the School of Fine Arts in San Fernando and took classes at the School of Arts and Crafts and Graphic Arts. He participates quickly in numerous collective exhibitions, notably in Paris (Salon de Mai, Salon of the young Sculpture, FIAC, etc.), but also in Italy and in most European countries.
His first personal exhibition, before many others, will be held in Rome in 1958. Miguel Berrocal wins the first sculpture prize of the Biennale des Jeunes de Paris in 1966. He creates his own foundry, a foundry that will be used by many European artists and add a printing press. The artist allows the sculpture to enter the "market" of the multiple. From 1955 to 1958, the artist produced welded metal works; in 1958, he envisioned a new possibility that would become recurrent in his work: the interweaving of pieces interlocking into each other to achieve the final work. The mastery of this technique will come in the early 60s. He will seek his major themes with a classical or neo-classical approach in antiquity, in Baroque art, multiplying "mutilated Victories" or "Torses de guerriers" But also in modern art with interwoven forms. (see the MC Gallery website).
Artist well side on Artprice.
