Bronze sculpture with two patinas (brown-green and gold) representing a large deer standing hard a rock, signed JE Masson, * and foundry stamp Company of the Bronzes of Paris **, vintage early twentieth century.

Son and pupil of Clovis Masson, sculptor and engraver in medal, he prted as his father animal art, with a preference for orientalist scenes and equestrian figures, historical figures. He sent to the Salon from 1900 many waxes, some plasters and bronzes. The Museums of Dijon and Troyes retain some of his works. (extract The Bronzes of the XIXth century by P. Kjellberg)

In activity approximately from 1875 to 1930 this foundry was located at 41 Boulevard du Temple and 14 rue Beranger in Paris. A manufacturing workshop is also mentioned at 117 Boulevard Voltaire.
