Brown patina bronze sculpture representing a girl sitting on a rock and holding a bird, signed Cumberworth *, and L. Marchand (bronzier), XIXth century.

This sculpture is in good condition. It is marked LG on the terrace. Signed by sculptor Cumberworth and bronze merchant Léon Marchand.

A note: some scratches and wear on the base, some dirt and wear of time, see photos.

* Charles Cumberworth (1811-1852):

sculptor (Ec fr). He entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1829. From 1833 to 1848 he exhibited at the Paris Salon. He is credited with the statue of Marie-Amélie, Queen of the French, the statue of the Duke of Montpensier and the bronze bust of Paul Féval. The Museum of La Rochelle retains two works from him.
