is a French painter and sculptor. He is the second son of the painter Raymond Bonheur (? -1849) and Sophie Marquis (1797-1828). Her family is composed of artists whose most famous representative is the painter Rosa Bonheur, the eldest of the siblings. Isidore first received an artistic apprenticeship from his father Raymond and his elder sister Rosa, then, in 1849, he entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris. After practicing painting and sent to the Salon of 1848 an African Rider attacked by a lioness, he turned to animal sculpture. His Combat de Torres group was noticed at the Salon of 1850. He won several medals in the Salons and a gold medal at the 1889 World Fair in Paris. Many famous museums keep him sculptures and groups of animals.
