Superb pair of bookends bronze brown patina, signed by animal sculptor Ch.Virion *, one depicting a pelican with a turtle and an eagle or other bird of prey in its talons a frog or a lizard, of period late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1886, honorable mention in 1893; member in 1893 of the third class medal in 1895, bronze in 1900 at the World Expo, the Animal since 1913.
