Pair of gilded bronze candlesticks representing two Cupids or cherubs sitting on crocodiles, holding in their hands a cornucopia filled with fruit, attributed to Henri Picard*, from the 19th century.
These candlesticks are in good condition, good quality. Unsigned but the model was made by the bronzier Picard.

Henri Picard, gilder and bronzer, settled in Paris from 1831 to 1839, Rue Jarente and from 1840 to 1864, Rue de la Perle. He received a commission from Napoleon III to create the gilding that adorns his apartments at the Palais du Louvre. Art and furniture bronzer, he creates very diverse objects and pieces, in a very high quality of gilded bronze carving such as centerpieces, candelabras, wall lights and fireplace trims. He gained his reputation and became a supplier to the entire bourgeoisie of the time.
