Pair of gilt bronze candlesticks representing two cherubs standing on a crescent moon and holding in their hands a flower forming torch, entitled "Love Athlete" by Carlier *, of XIXth century.
These candlesticks are in good condition and will be cleaned. They both bear a plaque on the front.
A note: wear on the gilding, 2 small slits on the base near "a crescent moon on a candlestick, time wear, see photos.
debuted at the Salon of 1874 after studies at Cambrai, Valenciennes and School of Fine Arts in Paris. His work includes allegories, genre scenes and many many busts in bronze and some animals. Among its shipments Salon there bronzes "Gilliatt and the Octopus" (1880), "The Brotherhood" or "The blind and the lame" (1884), "Bather" (1905), and several marble statuettes: "Youth" (1912), "The Wave" (1913) and "Dancer with Veil" (1914).
