Old system cane doctor, certainly "pommander" Doctor, perforated pommel gilded metal unscrewing revealing a space closed by a cap, had to help the doctor to bear the foul odors, even of wood, end XIXth -early twentieth centuries.
This rod is in good condition.
A note: some small accidents including the ferrule (ox horn), negligible impact on the pommel, some scratches and wear of time, see pictures.
