So-called chair * in carved Rio rosewood, high back with two small columns framing an alliance coat of arms with two coats of arms (on the right a lion sitting with three fish; on the left 6 sheaves of wheat, a key and an ox head) of a county crown, from Brittany, from the Napoleon III period of the 19th century.
This chair is in good condition. The cashmere-like fabric trim is on the back. The front feet are on casters.
A note: some wear of time on the fabric, some small cracks and wear of time on the wood, see photos.
* The fireside chair is a small low chair with high back, padded and comfortable seat born in the Regency era. Like its ancestor the caquetoire, its place was located near a fire, an oven, a boiler. The low seat placed the occupant at the hearth level and the high back sheltered it from drafts.
