* Ulm:

October 15, 1805, Napoleon's armies first stormed the Bavarian village Michelsberg, north of Munich, near the sources of the Danube. The village overlooks the city of Ulm, where entrenched the 40,000 Austrian soldiers of General Mack. His fall causes the capitulation of the Austrian army at Ulm five days later on October 20, 1805. Ulm appears as a typical victory of the Napoleonic genius, all maneuvers and rapid marches, with minimal losses. The French soldier "wins with his legs!" But it also owes much to the handling of a clever spy in the service of the emperor, Charles Schulmeister.
