Half carved coconut, decorated with musical instruments on one side and attributes of the war on the other (standards, spears, drums ...) as well as vegetable arabesques, work of sailor or convict *, from the 19th century.
This coconut is in its own juice.
A note: it was broken then glued, wear of time, see photos (see red arrows).
Like the Corozo, it was worked by sailors or also by convicts. They worked it to pass the time but also and above all to make some money to improve their daily lives. Can also be attributed to sailors on their long voyages. These coconut or corozo objects are fine examples of folk art.
