Half carved coconut, decorated with a unicorn and a lion standing on either side of a medallion, above a character's head (a savage), work of a convict or sailor, period Nineteenth century.

This coconut is in good condition, its decoration is very original.

Note: 2 small slots on the top and on the side (visible in particular on the photo of the back), some scratches and wear from time, see photos.

* Coconut , like corozo, was worked by sailors or also by convicts. They worked it to pass the time but also and above all to make a little money to improve their daily lives. Can also be attributed to sailors during their long voyages. These coconut or corozo objects are beautiful examples of popular art.
