Snuffbox in corozo entirely and finely carved with two gallant scenes decorated with a character offering a bouquet of flowers to a lady on one side; a woman greeting a child and a man making the court of the other, as well as flowers and foliage, work of sailor or convict, XIXth century.
This snuffbox is in good condition.
A note: small slot in the lid, a few tiny gaps at the hinge, the two ends were glued (not visible), some tiny shocks and wear time, see photos (see red arrows).

* The coconut as the corozo was worked by the sailors or also by convicts. The latter worked to pass the time but also and especially to make a little money to improve their lives. Can also be attributed to sailors on their long journeys. These objects in coconut or corozo are fine examples of folk art.
