Snuff box in finely carved corozo*, decorated with two small birds framing a crest, surrounded by foliage and flower motifs on the lid; on the other side, a little Cupid holding a bird in his hands, work of a sailor or convict, from the 19th century.
This snuffbox is in good condition.

*Coconut, like corozo, was worked by sailors or convicts. The latter worked it to pass the time but also and above all to make a little money in order to improve their daily lives. Can also be attributed to sailors on their long voyages. These coconut or corozo objects are fine examples of folk art.
