* Snuffbox corozo finely carved, decorated with characters holding medallions with portraits profile men, sides decorated with garlands of flowers, working sailor or convict, of XIXth century.
This snuffbox is in good condition.
A note: small slit, some wear and small accidents in the back corners, see photos.

* Coconut as the corozo was worked by sailors or also by convicts. The latter worked to pass the time but mainly to get some money to improve their lives. Can also be attributed to sailors during their long journeys. These objects coconut or corozo are fine examples of folk art.
