Set of 8 wine glasses in the Rhine cut and colored crystal, Baccarat * France signed model Genova, six flat sides, hexagonal leg on a round base, vintage twentieth century.

These glasses are in good condition. They are signed lozenge below.

* The Baccarat crystal works

is a crystal factory located in Baccarat municipality in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle, Lorraine in France. In 1764 King Louis XV granted permission to found a glassworks in the town of Baccarat in the Lorraine Metz to Bishop Louis-Joseph de Montmorency-Laval (1761-1802). The vast enclosure of the Baccarat Crystal Company was confused almost with the small town of Baccarat. Production was to manufacture tiles to glass, mirrors and glass services. After the French Revolution, the company dwindled until its bankruptcy in 1806, when it was auctioned to a merchant of Verdun. In 1816, the glassware was bought by an industrialist Aimé-Gabriel d'Artigues (1773-1848). This was the beginning of the ascent of the prestigious Baccarat Crystal. The real business start date of its acquisition in 1822 by a wealthy Parisian, Pierre-Antoine Godard-Desmarest. Baccarat received its first royal commission in 1823 from King Louis XVIII. This was the beginning of a long series of orders for royalty and heads of state of the planet. It was also a period of strong growth internationale.En 1855 Baccarat won its first gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of Paris.Baccarat filed in 1860 its trademark on his plays. The mark was a label on pièces.La crystal production took its magnitude during this period, and Baccarat has built a worldwide reputation for manufacturing high-quality glasses, candlesticks, vases and perfume bottles.
