Solid silver stew spoon hallmarked Fermiers Généraux de Rennes (1756-62) and LG goldsmith's mark for Grégoire Léonard (Rennes goldsmith, received master in 1732, cited in 1755), chiseled on the handle with the coat of arms of the Chastel de la Rouvraye family (with a red coat of arms with a castle topped with 3 towers and supported by 2 lions), from the 18th century.
This spoon is in good condition and is of superb quality. It comes from the Breton family of la Guerrande (related to the family of Chastel and Villirouët by marriage).
In 1721, Claude Jeanne Françoise du Chastel de Rouvraye (1701 - 1777) married René Le Vicomte, squire. Her sister Charlotte married in 1729 Jacques-Louis Mouësan, Count of La Villirouët (1687 - 1745), squire, lord of La Villirouët.
