Exceptional and rare oval cut glass paste opalescent yellow-green-blue-turquoise, decorated with acid generated flowers and golden foliage, signed Daum Nancy with Cross * Lorraine, Art Nouveau late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

This cup is in very good condition. It is a remarkable finesse and quality. It is signed below.

* Following the War of 1870, Jean Daum (1825-1885), notary in Bitche, sells its study and opts for France. He moved to Nancy in 1876 and in 1878 bought a glass. In 1878, he associates his son Augustus. At his death in 1885, Auguste takes only the direction of the glass before being joined in 1887 by his brother Antonin. The production of glass will move towards artistic creation. The two brothers between 1889 and 1891 preparing the artistic creation of a department which is entrusted to Antonin. August gives all means work to attend the wake dug by Émile Gallé glass in Art Nouveau. The Universal Exposition of 1900 brought international recognition with the awarding of a Grand Prix. In 1901, founded with Daum and Majorelle artists E.Gallé the Ecole de Nancy, spearhead of Art Nouveau. The Company continues to participate in major exhibitions in Barcelona 1923, International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1925 Colonial Exhibition in Paris in 1931. In the 1920s, Paul directs the production to Art Deco to the loss of public interest in Art Nouveau. The crystal still exists and its production is internationally known for the quality of these creations.
