This book is in good condition, it is in its own juice. It is illustrated with engravings (all photographed, see below).
A note: wear on the cover, the paper is yellowed, pitted and stained in places, traces of old folds of the pages, pictures look good.
English poet. Among his works, characteristics of literature of the Restoration, is remembered mainly Hudibras, a long satirical poem on Puritanism and burlesque. The work is a parody and satire aimed primarily Puritanism, Presbyterians and some other factions in the English Civil War. The text is divided into three parts, written respectively in 1663, 1664 and 1678. Published only four years after the beginning of the Restoration and the return of Charles II of England, the poem found a wide public acclaim. The view is far from neutral, as Butler was an ardent royalist only parliamentary party is ridiculed. The author also takes this opportunity to parody poetry and often tasteless courtesan of the time.
