Superb mythological sculpture in bronze patina dark entitled "The Triumph of Bacchus" signed Clodion *, representing two ancient characters accompanied by two cherubs or putti holding flowers and a tambourine during the Bacchanalia, the XIXth century.
This sculpture is in very good condition. It is signed see photos.

* Said Claude Michel Clodion (1738 - 1814) was a sculptor Lorraine and French from 1766. In 1755, he went to Paris in the studio of his maternal uncle Adam Lambert Sigisbert sculptor. He remained there four years, then became the death of his uncle, a pupil of Jean-Baptiste Pigalle. He is known for his mythological groups of dancers, bathers nymphs or terracotta. He has also performed works of great proportion, including "Hercules rest", "The River Scamander", "The Flood", a bust of Tronchet, etc.. He is the author of the decor "aquatic" Castle Digoine.
