Alphonse Giroux is a toymaker and a cabinetmaker, born about 1775 and died in 1848. First he turned to a career as an artist under the leadership of Jacques-Louis David, but he abandoned his brushes for commercial activity tables and furniture and objets d'art. From 1799 to 1848 he held his 7 rue du Coq Saint Honoré in Paris. A son, Alphonse-Gustave continued his activity. Another, André Giroux, took the brushes abandoned by his father.
