Hammered wrought iron and green opaline lamp, signed Goberg* for Hugo Berger, Art Nouveau period circa 1910-20 early 20th century.
This lamp is in good condition and is of superb quality. Signed underneath GOBERG Ges. Gesch (Gesetzlich Geschütz = protected by law). The electrics are original.

started his first metalwork factory in Schmalkalden, Germany, where decorative ironwork was made in the traditional way. The use of materials such as iron and brass is typical of Goberg's work. The manual character clearly attracts attention. His style, method and materials were perfectly in line with the Arts & Crafts movement, a very popular style at the time. By the beginning of the 20th century, he had become well known throughout the world, due to the fact that the Liberty department store and associated stores sold much of his work.
