Miniature on mother-of-pearl representing the portrait of General Comte de Coutard*, in a general's uniform adorned with medals (including the Order of the Legion of Honor), in an 18-carat solid gold frame, from the 1st Empire period, early 19th century .
This miniature is in good general condition. The frame is probably a belt buckle element.

Baron of the Empire (1809), Count COUTARD (24 January 1816), Brigadier General (**) (6 August 1811), General of the Empire (6 August 1811), Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Louis (August 20, 1823), Lieutenant General (November 25, 1814).
He fought under Louis XVI during the revolutionary governments, then he made the campaigns of the Empire at the head of the 65th line infantry regiment. During the Restoration, under the reigns of Louis XVIII and Charles X, to his military functions, will be added the function of deputy of Sarthe. General of brigade under Napoleon, he will be general of division under Louis XVIII, Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor and Grand Cross of the order of Saint-Louis. Baron d'Empire, count in perpetuity under Louis XVIII, he will also have the title of Gentilhomme de la chambre du Roi.
