* Mulnier Jean-Baptiste-Ferdinand, father (1757-1836):

miniature painter. In September 1775 Mulnier enrolled at the school of the Royal Academy in Paris. After graduation, he went to live in French Cap in Santo Domingo, where he married a young Creole widow. From this union was born a son, Etienne Ferdinand in 1783 (himself miniature painter). The revolt of the black in 1791 forced them to return to France. It is as miniature painter in Nantes. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1810. Mulnier Father, very good miniature painter, working in a dotted end shadowed his gray flesh and often gave a nice rosy complexion to his models. It excelled in the treatment of fabrics, particularly velvet. (From miniature painters N. Lemoine-Bouchard).
