This miniature is in good condition and is of outstanding quality. It is not signed but may êytre attributed to Adele Lallemand (we signed two miniatures for sale, from the same source and the same quality).
A note: tiny wear on the right side of the miniature, light time, especially on brass frame, see photos.
We Lallemand other miniatures for sale on this site.
Painter and miniaturist. Born Corbeiller she was a pupil of Jean-Hilaire Belloc and worked in Paris. She had to get married around 1839 or 1840 because, from 1835 to 1838 she exhibited at the Salon under her maiden name, and from 1840 to 1870 under her married name. She started the miniature quite late, perhaps not before 1857 and also painted flowers in watercolor. One of his few known portraits of her, in the Museum of Fine Arts in Rouen, has presence with an energetic look and certifies con talent in rendering fabrics. It is signed Ms. V. Lallemand, for "Lallemand widow." (Referenced in "The painters in miniature" Nathalie Lemoine-Bouchard).
