Rare old comtoise with modern automaton (construction D. Vachey) representing the fable of La Fontaine the Raven and the Fox. Facade in golden brass and polychrome. Dial signed Aug. Ferard in Lorient. Epoque nineteenth century.
This comtoise is in good condition and is of a remarkable quality. The movement works but will have to be revised. We do not have the pendulum or the key.
Each time the bell rings, the fox raises his head towards the raven that drops its cheese. Once in four, the fox looks at the raven but the cheese does not fall. This movement is listed in the book "La Comtoise Histoire-Technique" by Maitzner and Moreau (see last photo).
A note: the decor of the raven comes off slightly, some traces of oxidation, slight gaps on the polychrome, wear of time, see photos.
