* During the celebration of the Eucharist, the kiss of peace is the liturgical rite that precedes sacramental communion. This instrument, which appeared in the Middle Ages, allows the faithful to transmit the kiss of peace without direct physical contact - sometimes ambiguous - and by recalling the religious meaning of the gesture accomplished.
