Jobbana* or butter pot in polychrome earthenware in cobalt blue, green and yellow, surrounded by manganese, with rich stylized floral and plant decoration, adorned with pomegranate seeds, from Fez Morocco, late 19th century.

This jobbana is in good general condition, it is in its original condition.

Please note: some accidents, cracks and breakages, chips on the cover, wear and tear, take a good look at the photos (see red arrows)

* Jobbanas are a direct descendant of Chinese productions imported to Morocco from the end of the 18th century. Jobbanas inherited the squat shapes of Cantonese ginger jars, but also gained in originality: the shapes flared out, and the piece, initially in one piece with a small lid at its top, was transformed into a two-part "butter pot". The master ceramicists of Fez also knew how to imprint the mark of their creative genius on them: classical Chinese motifs gave way to the abundant floral repertoire of Fez, imbued with Hispano-Moorish reminiscences.
