Table of earthenware or porcelain tile, depicting a beautiful winter landscape of snow-covered forest with a river flowing peacefully toward a small hamlet, signed Louis Apol *, of XIXth-XXth centuries.
This table is in good condition and its wooden frame. It is signed lower left and is marked on the back.
A note: cracks in the top (see red arrow), a tiny hair on the back top right (barely visible), wear tiny frame.
Lodewyk-or-Franciscus Hendrik, landscaper born in The Hague. A student of Peter and Hoppenbrouwer Stortenbeker. It was a great success at the Exposition of The Hague in 1875 with his painting "Winter in the Forest", acquired by the State. This artist has since taken an important place among the modern Dutch painters. (Excerpt Bénézit)
