Pair of sandstone sculptures (probably from Nancy) signed EJB for Emile Just Bachelet * representing a couple of Auvergnats, an old player and a dancer, vintage twentieth century.
These sculptures are in good condition. Monogrammed at the back, numbered 4-N and 7-N underneath (signature Bachelet under the man).
A note: tiny varnish wear, slight wear of time, see photos.
is a French sculptor. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Nancy where he was a pupil of Jules Larcher for drawing and Ernest Bussière for sculpture. He then studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris. There he meets Georges Roty who will open the doors of the Parisian bourgeoisie. He participated in the Salon of French artists from 1920. It diversifies its activity beyond the busts and monuments. He collaborated at the pottery Henriot de Quimper to that of the brothers Mougin of Nancy and with the Faïencerie of Lunéville-Saint-Clément for which he realized in particular a Saint-Nicolas.
