Statuette biscuit Sèvres (dated 1905) signed Paul Roussel * and entitled Amalfi, representing an Italian woman, a water carrier with a jar placed on his shoulder, vintage early twentieth century.
This sculpture is in good condition. Signed and dated at the bottom.
A note: a shine in the back at the garment, tiny égrenure on the fold of the dress on the belly, some small scratches, dirt and wear of time, see photos.
(Ec fr) sculptor. Student of Cavelier, Barrias and Coutan. Won the first grand prix of Rome in 1895, the silver medal in 1900, and the mention of the same year. He was a member of the French Artists Jury and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Officer of the Legion of Honor. He sculpted monuments to the dead and statues. Collaborated with the Manufacture de Sèvres from 1902 to 1910. (Bénézit extract)
