Oil on canvas depicting the portrait of an ecclesiastic in cassock and flap, probably an abbot or prior, certainly a former knight or a religious of a military order (Order of Knights Templar or Order of St. George), with his coat of arms family at the top left composed of a double coat of arms wearing a helmet, dated 1741, vintage eighteenth century.
This oil is in good condition and its frame. Dated top right and probably signature on the edge of the books. The coat of arms is that of a knight family (helmet, Temple cross, leggings).
A note: this canvas has been restored (in 1991), some slight accidents on the frame, see photos.
