Born in The Hague in the Netherlands, Hofker was first built the Haagse Academy before joining the Rijksacademie to 14 years voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. He married in 1930 and from 1938, the couple traveled to India and Indonesia before moving to Bali, the journey that will inspire many in his paintings. They return to the Netherlands after the war. Hofker done so many portraits and architectural drawings that will be compiled into books. Balinese landscapes Hofker are now in great demand.
