Large oil on canvas depicting a man immersed in reading a book, a candlestick in front of him and two Skulls or Vanities in the foreground symbolizing the theme of Memento Mori, signed Maria Andries and dated 1891, annotated Mechelen (or Mechelen in Belgium), blege school, vintage late nineteenth century.
This oil is in good condition. Signed and dated lower right.
