Oil on canvas depicting a hunting dog (a spaniel) lying in the grass, in a countryside landscape, signed Nathalie Micas * and dated 1879, in a gilded stuccoed wooden frame, XIXth century.
This table is in good condition. Signed and dated lower left.
A note: some small accidents on the frame, small hole and depression on the canvas between the legs of the dog (see red arrow), wear time, see photos.
Animal painter. Companion of Rosa Bonheur met since childhood in 1837, she worked jointly with this great animal painter on several compositions. In 1860, abandoning Parisian life, they settled in By (Thomery), near Fontainebleau, in a large property / castle, surrounded by all kinds of animals. This is where Empress Eugenie visits them in 1864.
