This oil is in good condition and frame. It is signed lower left.
A note: wear and some missing see pictures on the frame (red arrows).
Raymond Besse arrived in Paris in 1916. This is his first time at the Salon des Independants in 1923. He then participated in many other shows, including the Salon d'Automne. He has many times represented the northern suburbs of Paris, Saint-Ouen, Clichy and Montmartre as he liked to paint "the zone" and his paintings are evidence of life in neighborhoods during the first half of the century. Raymond Besse has also produced many works on the themes of Normandy and the Loire Valley. It is in the Loir-et-Cher he spent his final years and died in 1969.
