is a French painter. Member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, he was trained at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, a student of Jean-Léon Gérôme, he is a portrait painter and attached to the orientalist movement. Appointed Knight of the Legion of Honor and Officer of the Order of the Dragon of Annam, his painting deals with very varied themes: Henry d'Estienne is both a painter of Algeria and Brittany. In addition to portraits, he painted landscapes of East and West and scenes of everyday life, from Parisian high society to the Breton countryside. Henry d'Estienne's career as a painter was marked by his first participation in the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris. He received from the Colonial Ministry an order for two paintings for the second room of the Somali Coast pavilion, his participation was rewarded with a bronze medal. The artist is a renowned painter from Brittany where he stays regularly, mainly in Faouët and Ouessant, settling at the Hôtel du Lion d'Or. He painted many views of Brittany from 1903.
