Large oil painting on canvas representing five beautiful young women, nymphs or Muses, dancing in a rural landscape, an old woman looking at them from the side, most certainly an Allegory of Spring, signed François Lafon*, in a gilded stuccoed wooden frame. shell decoration, vintage late 19th-early 20th centuries.

This painting is in very good condition and is very decorative due to its large size. Signed on the canvas plaque on the frame.

Note: two small accidents on the frame (see red arrows), slight wear and tear, see photos.

* François Lafon (1846-1913):

is a French painter. François Lafon is the fourth child of the painter Jacques-Émile Lafon. A disciple of his father, François Lafon trained in Alexandre Cabanel's workshop. He debuted at the Paris Salon of 1875 and exhibited historical scenes, religious compositions, genre scenes and portraits. Member of the National Society of Fine Arts from 1890, François Lafon received commissions from the French state. His works are kept in several French museums in Rouen, Saint-Brieuc and Périgueux.
