*Cecile of Rome

Holy Christian. She would have lived in Rome, in the early days of Christianity. Her legend makes her a virgin who, married by force, continued to respect her vow of virginity. She lived in Sicily, according to Venantius Fortunatus, and died for the faith in Rome at an uncertain time. She was ultimately condemned to martyrdom, after converting many people, including her husband. A passage from her legend states that on her way to martyrdom she heard celestial music. This anecdote will make her the patroness of musicians, luthiers and other musical instrument manufacturers. She is represented with a crown of flowers, a lily plant, a musical instrument and a sword. He is one of the most venerated early martyrs of the Church, mentioned in the canon of the mass since 496.

Iconography: its attribute is a musical instrument, generally a portable organ, which appears in the 15th century. Often a musical angel sitting at his feet. The Saint wears the lily crown of her Passion; (extract from the great book of Saints by J. Baudoin).
